While we have been together as a Family we have had three dogs.
A Chinese Pug named Spike of whom I have no pictures. Dee wanted to buy him for Dorian, as a pet and so she would get used to dogs. He seemed to not do much except eat, sleep, and breathe very noisily. We wound up giving him to the Preacher at the Church next door. He made them a fine pet and while we were still living in the house he would occasionally come up to the fence and say hello.
Our first Schipperke was Keeper, short for Inne Keeper. We wanted to get a small dog for the boat but one that was boat trained by instinct. Dee told me they didn't shed after 2 years old, a big lie, and so after reading some articles on them we started looking for one. We found a person in Newport News, VA who raised them and went and looked. I got to pick so I picked the friendliest one, several weeks later we picked him up and took him home to the Egg Harbor Inne. Keeper quickly became a member of the family. Soon he was spending his nights sleeping in the V berth with Dorian. He couldn't get up there by himself but he would just beg until some one put him up there. He traveled everywhere with us and his last home was in GTMO. He died on May 5, 2000 at a little over 9 years old.
Nefret is our second Schipperke. Dee bought her to keep her company when she was living in Portsmouth by herself. When Nefret first came to GTMO she was a little bundle of energy. The dog would literally bounce off the furniture. As she got older she calmed down a little and now at three she is the typical Schipperke, ruler of the house and always wanting to get her own way. She currently rules the house with Dee in Norfolk.
