After 5 months in Sumter, South Carolina a position came open at US Southern Command in Miami.  I jumped at the chance to move into a System Administration job and moved to Miami.

I lived for 13 months in Sunny Isles on the 17th floor of a new apartment building.  I looked dead west and at the bottom of the building was the Intercostal Waterway.  At night I could see the horizon looking west.  When a Holiday called for fireworks I didn't just see one, I saw 50 or 60!!  Dorian moved in with me half way through her Sophomore year and started working at the Ale House just over the bridge in North Miami Beach, a 10 minute walk.

From there I moved to South Miami for 6 months and Dorian and I shared an apartment.  It saved rent, gas money, and also about an hour and a half each day in my commuting time.  Winn-Dixie was 119 seconds away door to door.  Ok yes I really liked being able to walk to the grocery store in 2 minutes.  University of Miami was a 20 minute walk but since the metro was 3 minutes away it was just as easy to jump on a train for Dorian getting to school.  Plenty of restaurants close by enabled Dorian to find a job at Dan Marino's in Sunset Place which at 5 minutes walk away was very convenient.

These pictures are of places I lived and places I visited.
